The Ghanaian people comprise ethnic elements, diverse in their personality, historical and cultural backgrounds, welded effectively into a unitary state. Currently, the population is estimated at about 14 million, with an average annual growth rate of 2.7 percent. The predominantly vivacious spirit of the people is clearly manifested in some of the ethnic groups in their music and dance, as well as the proverbial Ghanaian hospitability radiating in the welcoming smiles on the faces of the people.
